About
Nika Brgant works in theatre as a director, performer and pedagogue. She is registered as a self-employed worker in culture (»samozaposlena v kulturi, pedagoginja«) and is based in Lesce, in Slovenia's Gorenjska region.
Her work has brought together performers of very different backgrounds on the same stage — established community actors from Gledališče Toneta Čufarja Jesenice alongside actors from the Biser theatre group of CUDV Radovljica, a centre for the training, work and care of people with special needs. She also creates theatre for children and mentors young performers in school settings.
Approach
„She looks at every actor the same way. Every performer has limits — what matters is the wish to push past them on stage.“
— as described in coverage of Jasna stvar, CUDV Radovljica / MojaObčina, 2017
Performers of different abilities on one stage as equal collaborators.
Rehearsal as a shared process where everyone learns from the others.
Movement, voice and presence as tools for confidence and connection.
